Eye and Vision Exams

Vision disorders and eye diseases are incredibly common. They can severely lower your quality of life and make it almost impossible to complete day to day activities. If left untreated, eye diseases can lead to partial or total vision loss. In order to prevent complications from eye diseases and ensure your eyes stay healthy, it's important to get an eye exam done with an optometrist.

At Iconic Eyecare in Surrey, BC, our eye doctor Dr. Hetul Modi and the rest of his staff are here to help patients find relief from vision disorders and provide high-quality eye care. With the help of an eye exam and our expertise, we can prevent complications from eye diseases and help you see clearly.

Do I Need an Eye Exam?

People with pre-existing vision disorders and eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, astigmatism, myopia, presbyopia, and hyperopia should all visit our optometrist for an eye exam yearly. However, even people without pre-existing conditions can benefit from an eye exam.

If you've been suffering from symptoms such as:

  • Blurry vision
  • Double vision
  • Eye strain
  • Inability to focus
  • Red eyes
  • Eye pain
  • Headaches
  • Increased floaters
  • Glare
  • Trouble seeing at night

These can all indicate a serious issue with your eyes. It's best to see our optometrist and schedule an eye exam right away to determine the root cause of your vision issues.

If you don't have an underlying issue, it's recommended that people under the age of 40 receive eye care every two to five years. People over the age of 40 should schedule an eye exam every two to three years. Many Americans over the age of 40 have a vision disorder.

How Our Optometrist Helps

A trained optometrist will be able to conduct an eye exam and determine if you have a vision disorder or other eye disease. They will conduct an eye exam to test your vision, take a deep look inside of your eyes, and measure your eye pressure. These are just some of the many tests an optometrist will conduct.

Afterward, our optometrist will determine if you need to return for a follow-up exam or prescribe the best treatment. Vision tests during your eye exam can help your optometrist determine the best prescription for eyeglasses and contact lenses. An eye exam will also determine if medications such as eye drops are necessary.
